Elementary School Program
DEAR PRINCIPAL, ACTIVITIES INSTRUCTORS AND PAC CHAIR
THIS YEAR, invite one of our experienced PRESENTERS to help you achieve some of your PRESCRIBED LEARNING OUTCOMES: |
Kindergarten to Grade 3: Students will learn to apply the 4-key survival skills on safety every time they cross the street, play outdoors at school and in their neighborhoods or travel on the road.
| "THE SPIRIT TO SURVIVE" |
Grades 4-7: Observing the application of the 4-key survival skills will help Students learn how to assess the potential for risk or injury, and to learn key strategies to help them stay injury-free. |
The new lifesaving injury prevention program, "THE SPIRIT TO SURVIVE" provides an opportunity for Elementary Students to learn key survival strategies from a highly qualified Professional Athlete or Adventurer in a dynamic and interactive presentation! The presentation's inspiring "big screen" format combines film footage of epic treks to exotic locations, action packed footage from sport competitions, or film stunts in major movies and recording breaking sky diving formations.
"THE SPIRIT TO SURVIVE" program promotes the 4-key survival skills to help Students create positive actions with positive outcomes. A simple action like looking out for your friends when engaged in outdoor activities or wearing a helmet when cycling or snowboarding are examples of the 4-key skills in action!
This injury prevention strategy teaches Elementary Students how to apply the 4-key survival skills needed to create their own positive actions and become the architect of their destiny. Our World-Class professional Athletes support "THE SPIRIT TO SURVIVE" program with dynamic, interactive presentations that visually express their experiences! Students will see examples of how a professional athlete or adventurer prepares for their events, races or film stunts. Students are invited to not only learn the 4-key skills, but to also apply those skills every time to all their activities including on-road travel, recreational activities and travel to and from school. |

THE 4-KEY SURVIVAL SKILLS
When Students lack knowledge and training, the consequences can be tragic. The most significant of which can be a life changing concussion or brain injury. These types of injuries can happen in the blink of an eye, and are often caused by a lack of training and experience or bad actions. Learning to apply the 4-key survival skills to all their activities helps Students take the positive actions that lead to positive outcomes, like saving their lives and those of others. |
Students will learn how to assess their levels of training and experience. For example, crossing the street at an intersection is a high-risk activity. As Teachers, you know that there is a fine line between challenging yourself to your personal limit and being over-confident! "THE SPIRIT TO SURVIVE" program encourages Students to plan, to be prepared, and to seek the appropriate training for whichever activity they are planning. Checking their physical environment is the third survival skill. They can do a mental check of their personal and physical environment, which includes their body in relation to their immediate environment. And, the fourth and final skill is to evaluate their attitude - What is their attitude as they are about to commence the activity? Having a positive mental attitude is the most important of the 4-key Survival Skills! Learning how to stay focused and to be fully engaged in the moment will help Elementary Students create their own injury free actions in all that they do! |
