About Us BC Injury Prevention Centre - A part of the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority
The British Columbia Injury Prevention Centre leads the way in B.C. promoting injury-free survival strategies in high-risk environments including sport and recreational activities, and travel on the road. We have highly qualified Professional Athletes who motivate Students in BC Schools to learn how to recognize and assess their abilities to stay injury-free in any environment and to understand the importance of risk management. We have an innovative, flash web site that receives a high volume of traffic with an average of 500 million hits a month and features free flash games, video wipeouts of mountain bikers, snowboarders and skaters, "The Spirit To Survive" School Program, our World-Class Presenters and TV Ads.

The BC Injury Prevention Centre launched its' vision of injury-free living programs in Elementary and Secondary Schools in the Spring of 1989 in Vancouver reaching ten thousand Students. Fast forward to 2007, our injury prevention programs have expanded to several new media platforms including our Web Site, the Intranet including You Tube and Google, and Television Advertising reaching hundreds of thousands Students at home and abroad.

The BC Injury Prevention Centre's lifesaving injury prevention program, "The Spirit To Survive", introduces Students to 4-Key Survival Skills that incorporates a conceptual approach to injury-free living. Our World-Class Professional Athletes support the application of this concept with dynamic, interactive presentations that visually express their life experiences and survival skills! Students learn to Maintain Healthy Lives, Develop Injury-Free Strategies, Assess and Minimize Risk and Maximize Potential.

The British Columbia Injury Prevention Centre has also enlisted the help of the Mountain Biking community to help curb the rising injury rate. Our search for a World-Class Ambassador came riding to our rescue from the North Shore. Wade Simmons is World-Class in all that he does. Whether he's competing as a Professional Freerider in races all over the planet, motivating young riders or filming video segments, Wade is a dedicated rider and mentor. For these reasons and many more he was the perfect candidate for the role as the BC Injury Prevention Centre's Ambassador in British Columbia.
